(Ok, so since my work schedule changes every week, I will
try to have updates for Nesia on Monday or Tuesday. Little side stories will be whenever I get
one written. And remember, you can make
a comment if you want to see something from any character’s point of view. You might even get some information. ^^ Oh, and I already have plans for the next
post for each of the paths so pick whatever you want.)
Izen’s competition was the galactic
fight tournament of the century. All
ages and styles were represented and the competitions had gone on for an entire
week of elimination rounds. The junior
tournament finals had all been yesterday.
Technically Izen could have signed up for the teenage competitions, but
he had opted against it for several reasons.
Primarily from the encouragement of his head coach.
Nesia and Kale walked into the box
office suite that belonged to the Asuraeson Family to find Izen stretching and
talking with his idol and coach, Niles Tyanio.
Izen jumped on his feet when he saw Nesia as he expressed his gratitude
for her coming. Nesia had seen Izen
several times this week, but this was the first time she was seeing the
galactic stunt master since her memory loss.
He was the man who had saved her from a fall to her death.
“I watched some of the other guys
training,” Izen babbled from nervousness.
“They are really good. And at
least ten years older than me.”
“Age difference doesn’t mean you’re
going to lose,” Niles interrupted,
“or win. Most important thing you have
to remember is don’t mix styles in the restricted finals.”
Everything about Niles
just screamed “action hero”: his muscled body, his unwavering gaze, his
perfectly organize mess of hair, his stance.
Of course, he could be missing all those things and still make people
think he was an action star based on his presence alone. Presence.
That word stuck out to Nesia and she found herself obsessing over it for
information.
“Go find out your schedule so I can
figure out which judges to bribe,” Niles
told Izen.
“Will you stop saying that?” the
younger man scowled. “And they don’t
post it for at least another ten minutes.”
“Which is why you need to get in early. Especially if you have any conflicts. The is the downside to making it to the
finals for over half the tournaments.”
“It was your idea,” Izen said
shyly, as he headed for the door.
Presence… Niles
teased Izen a little bit and then the teen left, promising to be back
soon. Presence… The professional stunt
man sighed and scratched his head. His
brown eyes moved back and forth between Nesia and Kale. Presence…
Niles had a slightly bemused
expression on his face.
“Preston,”
Nesia said as an epiphany struck her.
“You just made my day,” Niles
said. “I could die happy. Doc said that my Blue might forget me. But I know my Blue wouldn’t be able to forget
my sheer awesomeness.”
“I’m not a color, I’m not your
Blue,” Nesia scowled. “Call me
Nesia. And don’t get too full of
yourself. I can only remember your name. Nothing else.”
“Nothing at all?” the man she
remembered as Preston asked, a little hurt. “Not even the steamy details of our
passionate affair that is all the gossip right now?”
“Me? Sleep with you? You couldn’t pay me enough.” Her reply had come out on its own and she
said it without a single change to her expression.
The snickering from Kale was
quickly drowned out by the gut busting laughter from Preston. The professional stunt man was almost in
tears from amusement, but Nesia caught a hint of relief. Preston gave her a
quick hug when his laughter finally died down to chuckles.
“I was worried,” he admitted. “I’m glad you’re still you.”
“Did you expect me to become Kate
or something?” Nesia asked.
“I was thinking more along the
lines of a possessed zombie,” Preston teased.
It seemed like a sibling relationship
between them, Nesia decided. Good
friends who trusted each other. She knew
she trusted him with her life. The
shatter memory involving a high speed chase and jumping off a bridge reminded
her of that fact.
“So I’m thinking we should just get
your Kate job done and skip the other one entirely,” Preston
said.
“Okaaaywhat?” Nesia blinked as her
mind processed his words. “You actually
know what my other job was? No one else
here does. So what is it and why skip
it?”
“I’ll give you the short version so
Kale doesn’t blow a gasket,” Niles
sighed as he looked over at the pretend bodyguard who was playing with a puzzle
cube. “No offense dude, but I’ll be glad
when Vince gets here.”
“None taken,” Kale muttered.
“So short story is that the boss
wanted us to look into seeing if Asuraeson Lord was making deals with one of
those spirit thingys for the power to dominate others,” Prestion
explained. “We technically got half of
the job done by identifying that there is something there and that it is a
major threat. But we can’t finish the
job by dealing with it.”
*************
(I’ll even let you pick more than one and see if I can mesh
the answers together. But please, try
not to pick more than two.)
What is Nesia’s response?
1 – “Define ‘dealing with it’.”
2 – “Spirit thingys?”
3 – “Does Donavan know about this?”
4 – “What makes it a major threat?”
