“You need to go take a break,” Kale said
as he tried to help Nesia stand up.
“No,” Nesia said, doing her best to
glare through her headache. “I need some
kind of answer and I need it now.”
“Blue,” Kale said with a sigh, “you don’t
look well.”
“Nesia,” she corrected. “And I don’t care right now. I just want to know one thing. What in the expanse of this minuscule galaxy
do I do?”
“You need rest,” Kale tried again.
“No, I need sanity,” Nesia snapped. “I apparently first got into this mess when I
was breaking into a government building on Origin.”
“I remember that story,” Cam
laughed. “I think. Wasn’t it something to do with you being
blackmailed and then that thing…I’m glad I don’t ever have to deal with those.”
“Cam,” Kale warned.
“Just give me an answer,” Nesia sighed.
Kale stood up quickly and walked to the
door, a slight shiver shaking his body.
Cam immediately abandoned Nesia and quickly went to check on Kale. Nesia tried to be annoyed, but found herself
equally concerned. It seemed like the
more memories she got back, the more knowledge that returned without her
knowing. Kale could recognize the signs
of a mental breakdown because he regularly experienced them.
“Kale, telling me about that origami
stuff you were doing,” Nesia said, her headache actually receding a little.
“Your mind is much stronger than mine,”
Kale said enviously. “I am fine
now. Thank you both.”
“I don’t know how you manage to deal
with the crazies all the time,” Cam shrugged.
“By not thinking about it,” Kale sighed.
“Take your break,” Nesia told the man. “Cam, you will tell me my job and only my job
and then we’ll all break for lunch.”
“Very well,” Cam sighed, obviously
unpleased about a cap being put on her chatter.
Kale did not voice any complaint, though, so Cam quickly launched into
her explanation. “Since you’re good at
dealing with the spirits and you can make a blueprint of anything, which is why
we call you Blue, you usually case a place.
That’s a usual, though. In this
case Katie contracted to have you be her again.
I do think she did it because she figured you would be able to say no
for her. That girl has almost no spine.”
“You’re digressing,” Kale and Nesia
chimed in.
“Well excuse me,” Cam said. “But anyway, I know Card took the job because
there was supposed to be something in the Asuraeson Estate you needed to
investigate for a different job. I’m not
really sure on all the details. I just
make you look good. I don’t even know
what reports you were making. I know
Preston thinks that younger boy has potential.
Now that I think about it, I did hear that you couldn’t map out the
entire estate for some reason and that’s why it was taking so long.”
“Just stop right there,” Nesia
sighed. “I need time to think. I’ll have more questions later I’m sure. Do I have anything I need to do today,
though?”
“Not that I know of,” Cam answered.
“Izen’s competition,” Nesia said,
jumping up as she remembered.
“That is tomorrow,” Kale corrected. “Relax before then.”
“Ok,” Nesia grudgingly agreed. “But I’ll be figuring out my life in between.”

What
should Nesia figure out?
1
– Something about the “spirits”?
2
– Something about the other job?
3
– Something about mapping the estate?
