I really am off to a slow start.  But, I do have a good topic for today.  Thanks to Super Pi.  I'm glad I have a superhero as a devoted reader.  ^_^

Well, I do have a retelling of Goose Girl, but then it got rehashed a little so it is currently being reassembled.  As for Beauty and the Beast, I actually don't know if I'll be retelling that one in this series.  The last few fairytales I am retelling are a little unsure at the moment.  Now, that leaves Snow White and Rose Red.  I am sort of retelling this one.  Sort of is the key word.  When you retell something it can certainly end up completely unreleated to the original.

What I have done is I have added elements of SW and RR to my retelling of Snow White.  Snow White does have a little sister named Rose Red.  Snow White is a book worm, but she also enjoys doing chores because she thinks best when she's working.  Rose is several years younger than her sister and she is a strong and confident kid.  Now, in my retelling, Rose is only going to be around a little bit.  But, in a later series Rose is going to be a stronger character (her magic sort of gives her super strength, but I really did not mean to make a pun like that).

One fun thing about my retelling of Snow White is my reasoning behind her name.  Everyone in those woods has some sort of color for a name.  Last name has nothing to do with familial relationships.  It has everything to do with eye color and type of magic.  So Rose has these vibrant red eyes with a thin ring of black around the iris.  Snow's eyes are sort of like a prism (in that they seem to reflect different colors) with a thin ring of black around the iris (because I did not want it to be too creepy with her maybe looking like she just had a pupil).  There are nine colors, White and Grey (because I did not want black as an eye color) are the rarest types.  Oh, and two parents who both have Green eyes could have a child who has Purple.  As I said, name has nothing to do with familial relationships.

My crazy lady is named Saffron.  She originally tries to exploit Snow's magic, but it does not work very well.  Then Saffron thinks she finds something that could give her lots of power if she killed off the Whites.  Unfortunately for her (and not for Snow) she has to wait until the Whites' magic is considered fully matured before she can kill them.  Of course, she is keeping this very secret and Snow and most people are oblivious that Saffron is evil.  At least in the beginning.

Now, I have decided that since Super Pi commented, I will post a snippet of writing on Saturday.  Since Super Pi was the one who brought up Rose Red and Snow White, I will write a snippet that includes little Rose Red as well as her sister.  Plus their big brother (he's not really but they view him as their brother), Jade Green.  I may have a few other characters as well.  I must say that these characters are fun to name even if their naming system is a little limited.  So, I shall post some writing on Saturday.
