Story 17 - Part 3 - Dreaming

“All right,” Don said as he and Tech leaned over the world map they had spread out. “So, what’s our first stop?”

--The airport,-- Tech signed.

“Oh, so clever.” Don rolled his eyes as Tech pulled out the initial itinerary that Carmine had given them.

“What are you two up to?” Jordan asked from the other side of the room.

--Uncle Car asked us to see if there were any places we really wanted to see during our trip,-- Tech explained. --He said he can’t promise we’ll be able to see any of them, but chances are we’ll be seeing several of them anyway.--

“True,” Jordan agreed. “So, what are you planning on?”

“We’re still getting to that,” Don laughed. “Mr. C gave us a list of places to look over.”

--Let’s just start with the Dirai Isles,-- Tech signed, spelling out the country name.

“That’s not our first stop,” Don pointed out.

--Two words. Massive Dirai ruins.”

“That’s three words,” Don and Jordan said at the same time.

“And you are an incredible nerd,” Don scowled. “I thought you were going to say something like ‘hot girls on the beach’ or something like that.”

“I’ve actually seen those ruins,” Jordan said. “The place is set up like a maze. Me and some of my bomb squad buddies nearly got arrested playing the greatest game of capture the flag.”

“Seriously?” Don asked as Tech waved his hands, asking for more.

“That place is pretty cool,” Jordan continued. “You can be on opposite ends of the island, but if you’re in the right places you can hold a conversation like you’re on a cell phone.”

“Well that explains why the nerd is excited to go to this place,” Don sighed.

--Is that not awesome?-- Tech asked, ignoring Don’s teasing.

“We’re going on a world trip and your dream is to go to echoing ruins?” Don snickered.

--And what’s your dream trip?-- Tech asked.

“Oh, so now it’s my turn to prove myself a nerd?” Don laughed.

“Of course,” Jordan said.

--You’re next.-- “You’re next.” The two boys said simultaneously.

“Fine,” Jordan agreed. “Don still goes first.”

“Deal,” Don nodded. “Just give me a minute to pick one.”

Tech waved his hand in laughter as Don gave over exaggerated thinking poses. After a while, Don stopped the posing and actually seemed to be giving it serious thought. Tech was incredibly excited about the whole trip, and wanted to see several sights in addition to the echoing maze. He was genuinely interested in what places his best friend wanted to see as well.

“I’ve got a few places in mind, since I can’t pick just one,” Don admitted.

--Hey, I’ve got several too,-- Tech admitted. --I just want to hear one from you.--

“Don’t laugh,” Don warned, then he paused and thought about his comment. “Actually, you can laugh, but one of my dreams as a kid was to spit from the Fellor Tower.

Tech did laugh; his body shaking as Jordan reminisced about doing that very thing. As with many of his stories involving his bomb squad buddies, Jordan nearly got arrested because three of his buddies tried to climb over the railings and onto the roof. Of course, Jordan strongly discouraged Don and Tech from doing the same thing.

“Your turn,” Don finally demanded, pointing at Jordan.

“Well, my dream of being married to a beautiful woman is happening in less than a month,” Jordan said with a cheesy smile.

--Lame,-- Tech signed. --Just tell us a place that you haven’t been to.--

“Currently, I want to visit my parents in the middle of no where jungle,” Jordan answered. “And I would like to introduce them to their new step-grandson.”
